The Journey of REDAN
The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) was established in response to the Federal Government’s initiative to address the housing deficit in Nigeria. Formed on 4th May, 2001, following the recommendations of a 15-member Committee on Urban Development and Housing, REDAN has been pivotal in driving the development of affordable housing. Officially recognized by the Federal Government in 2002, REDAN has since been the principal agency and umbrella body for the organized real estate sector. Our mission is to ensure that every Nigerian has access to decent, safe, and affordable housing through private sector initiatives supported by government policies.

Our Vision for Housing in Nigeria
The Government of Nigeria is committed to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to decent, safe, and sanitary housing at an affordable cost. This vision is driven by a collaborative effort between the private sector and government initiatives. By fostering private sector involvement, the government aims to create a sustainable housing market that benefits all citizens.
Through the Government White Paper on the Report of the Presidential Committee on Urban Development and Housing, the ultimate goal is clear: to provide secure tenure and affordable housing solutions for every Nigerian. This initiative is designed to address the housing deficit and improve living conditions across the nation.
The private sector plays a crucial role in this mission, with the government providing the necessary support and encouragement. By leveraging private sector resources and expertise, the government aims to accelerate the development of housing projects that meet the needs of the population.
Our commitment is to ensure that these housing solutions are not only affordable but also meet the highest standards of safety and sanitation. Together, we can build a future where every Nigerian has a place to call home.
